Approximately 25 third grade students from Zephyr Cove Elementary School participated in winter survival training with Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District engine companies. The training, led by Firefighter/Paramedic Bryce Cranch consisted of teaching the students skills to help keep them from getting lost or injured, and survival techniques in case they do become lost or stranded in winter conditions. Specific skills included navigation, shelter making, and signaling.
Fire District personnel included Captains Jim Antti, Chuck Salerno, and Tim Allison, Engineer Greg Peterson, and Firefighter/Paramedics Steve Prather, Chris Peterson.
